Called to make an appointment and asked them to put on file that I would like to have a loud noise look at in my vehicle. I explained the problem in detail to the man who answered the phone. He told me that he would add all the information to my file and be sure to check it out. When I dropped it off in the morning I mentioned to the man at the reception that in addition to having my tires changed I would like them to investigate into the loud noise and I told him I left him a note explaining the issues I was having with my vehicle. When they called for me to pick up my vehicle, I asked if they investigated into the noise. The man put me on hold for a good 15 minutes and answered the phone again, forgetting that he had put me on hold. He then told me he would call me back. When he called back he said there was no note on my file or any mention of my inquiry to have them look into the noise. He told me they will do a free investigation to look into the noise another day if I book an appointment. I said okay, but upon reflection this is ridiculous. I woke up early, drove there when they opened and took a cab to work and then I am going to have to get off work, take another cab to pick up my car because they dont have a shuttle. This is terrible customer service. I would rather go to my dealership and have it done because they have a shuttle. Very unimpressed with their customer service. I usually recommend Kal-tire to my friends, but I think I will stop.
We have been buying tires from this Kaltire for years (we have had quite a few cars). And have generally liked the service. However, last two experiences have been less then great. First one is similar to the experience of another reviewer. My wife was recommended change of rotors that were about 2 mths old at the time (no gouging on the surface, no pulsing of the brakes etc). Currently my car is in for the installation of 4 high end winter tires. I had phoned in about 10 days ago and they where booking in this week. Dropped the car of at 7:30 in the morning so they have the full day to work on it. Was just told it would not be done today (@3.30pm) because it was a walk-in. I had mentioned in the morning that I had an appointment, They had a clipboard out on the table for my car (I think). They are now going to finish it by 6pm, but I had other plans. Will have to look at other Kaltire locations, or another vendor :(
Dont trust Kal Tire. They will try and upsell you to spend big bucks on things you dont need (both this outlet and the one on Arbutus in Vancouver have pulled that on us). They tried to sell my wife tie rod replacements at a cost of almost $800 when the tie rods had been done only two months earlier by a reputable firm when we had the wheels balanced. We got a second and third opinion (in addition to the shop that did the work in the first place) and all three confirmed the tie rods didnt need replacement. While she was there they also said they might as well do an oil change because it was getting close - we actually had another 1000 km to go but they figured might as well cash in while she was there - maybe its trying to take advantage of a woman! They may be good on tires (although i would go to OK Tire or Fountain Tire ahead of them), but i would not trust them with any other work. BEWARE!!
They wouldnt know good customer service if it fell on their lap. Elderly father in law came in with a flat tire, they had no replacement or couldnt fix it. I brought their winter tires and wheels so he could drive the car home with 2 hours before closing, they wouldnt even spend the 2 minutes it would have taken to swap one wheel out so he could drive home. I decided to swap it myself in the parking lot, asked to borrow a ratchet to get the wheel off and they wouldnt even help me with that. Had to go to Canadian Tire to buy a lug nut wrench to finish changing his tire IN THE KAL-TIRE parking lot!! The guy at the counter was more concerned with talking to his girlfriend on the phone than helping us.
Ive bought tires from Kal Tire before, and always had a really good experience… They are very professional, and speedy. Today, I had a really great experience that I felt I HAD to share. I brought in a tire (that wasn’t purchased from them) that had a nail in it, and was informed that it would be a few hours as it was quite busy. Since I had a full size spare, I told them I didn’t need it till the next day. When I went to pick it up the next morning, it was read to go... NO CHARGE. This kind of small nicety goes a long way these days with so many large faceless corporations out there. I will definitely buy my next set of tires from these guys! Great stuff!
Went in for a regular oil change, expected the service to be done with fluid inspection and safety check as usual. Upon completion and paying for service I even asked if fluids were checked as we just returned from a road trip. Was ensured by Ali it was and the next day I discovered it was never checked or top up. Customer service and due dillegence on vehicle service has definitely declined over the past 6 months. I had to return today to have a simple service completed. Confidence in service being completed correctly in question when in the past it has been nothing but outstanding. New manager?
I booked online and was called to confirm only a few hours later. The prompt response let me know there was a human at the end of this virtual connection. No problem when I had to reschedule the day before. I dropped the car off early and everything went as advertised. Very pleased that I wasnt charged for a wheel alignment that it turns out was unnecessary! Ive been going to Kal Tire for over a decade and see no reason to go anywhere else - love the free (nail) puncture service. First time at this location and Ill definitely be back. Thanks so much for simple, honest service and fair prices.
When you have to change the tires of four cars on the same day you need the professionalism and commitment of a team. KalTire has that team of dedicated experts. From the appointments to the re torquing , it was always seemless and efficient. Now that they even store your spare tires, I dont even have to try to find and identify those tires for next season. Kudos to the whole team as with four cars, the whole team probably was involved.
I have never been disappointed by the folks at this Kal Tire location. Theres a "bedside manner" to being a mechanic just like to being doctor. Its importance cant be overstated. I am always treated with respect by this Kal Tire staff no matter which employee I deal with and have found them to go out of their way to ensure my car issues are addressed as quickly and affordably as possible. I highly recommend them as your go-to mechanic.
