Absolutely unscrupulous con-artists. Very dishonest and shaddy. This place does not deserve a zero star even if that was an option. I did an inter-provincial vehicle inspection here. They hijacked my car, forced me to take their tires or else theyd fail my inspection if I dont replace my tires with them. For the record, my tires were in good condition - they were manufacturer tires, had been put on about 15,000 kms and were supposed to last a lot longer than that. I had my whole car inspected before my moving trip and I was told that everything was perfectly working, yet this place managed to scam a whopping $2000 repair cost from me, basically saying everything on the car needs repair. Too naive and unsuspecting of me, having come from a small town, thus havent met many reprehensible shops out there like this and believed them. They did not have their act together and was super disorganized throughout the process: theyd call you and tell you car is ready for pick up; then you find out your car is clearly not ready when you arrive, then they always have "stories" to tell.. Every. Single. Time. without fail. To this date, I am not actually sure what work was actually done on the car. I am thinking they just made up a list of repairs that actually didnt happen just to swindle my money. For example: they said theyd replace air filters in the car, and I found out within a month at another place when I was doing oil change that my air filters werent replaced. They did not own up to their mistake, and blamed me for going to another place for my oil change (instead of using their service again) after I confronted them about not doing work that they charged me for. Seriously, why am I obligated to return to your shop when I was dissatisfied with your service? LOL Still no apology from them, but they gave me a hand-written note saying that I can redeem $108 for any future work done with them, for the air filter replacement that I paid for but didnt happen. This $108 really should have been a refund in my opinion, if they didnt at all do the work that they had charged me for. The new tires they put on had extremely shallow treads, and were super slippery and dangerous to drive on in the rainy Vancouver weather. This had never happened with my "old" tires before the replacement work. My car slipped several times in the rain with the new tires on and God forbid I could have been seriously injured or killed! When I confronted them about this serious safety issue, they made excuses after excuses, and refused to do anything to address a safety issue WHICH THEY CAUSED or honour the $108 credit (which should really have been a refund) they previously offered. This is a LIFE-OR-DEATH issue yet they really didnt give a damn! In my experience, this place has absolutely no moral principles and is downright shameless, and I was truly blown away by how brutally dishonest they were. Do yourself a favour, and for your safety, go to another mechanic! You cant even pay me to go back there! Not worth risking your life!
Theyll break your car so you can pay them again to fix it. Bought new wheels to be put on our Mitsubishi Lancer. First, we e-mailed Big O Tires, and Brian had given us a quote on what the cost would be for buying new tires and putting them on our new wheels. I called Brian the next day to confirm that they can do the job, and he immediately gave me attitude, implying that I did not know what I was talking about. First visit, we spent $650 for the cost of 4 tires (and 4 valve stems), and mount+balance. They offered us free alignment as well but there was a car stuck on their machine, so they were unable to do that. After about a week, the tire pressure light came on. We contacted Big O Tires by email and they mentioned it had to do with the TPMS sensors. They had failed to take out the TPMS sensors from our old wheels and put them in our new wheels, which is something they should have known beforehand. So, we went back to them and first off, they tried to sell us new TPMS sensors for $70 each (for a total of $280 for the 4). We did not want to pay for brand new sensors, when we already had them, so we had brought in our old wheels. They had to re-do all the work that we paid for in our first visit, while cutting off our brand new valve stems (also paid in for in the first visit) in the process, and finally take our car for an alignment. This cost us another $200. A couple weeks later, we noticed that our tires started wearing down significantly. We took photos of this and sent them to Brian. He claims it is because they did not have the right equipment the first time, but that they bought a $20,000 balancing machine that could make us "happier". He told us to come in on Saturday (yesterday). We also drove the car on highway speeds for the first time, and noticed the steering wheel was shaking violently. This was a huge safety concern. We came in and Ron said that Brian did not make an appointment for us, even though he told us to come in that day. He said they were extremely busy but they would do whatever they can to fix the problem. We advised them to give us a call before they start any major work, as we did not want to have to spend a lot of money yet again. This was at 12:30. We did not get a call until 4:45. When we arrived, Brian told us that we had to pay them for 2 hours of labour because the car was not balanced/aligned whatsoever the first time, and so they had to re-do it again. Their lack of knowledge and inability to foresee any future concerns costed us significant time and money. Had they known about what issues may arise beforehand, we would not have to keep coming back to them and paying them three times for the same work to be done.
CAUTION ...... if I could rate this place zero stars I would!!! I made an appointment and when I showed up they told me they were behind an i would have to wait an hour without a phone call prior to let me know and when I tried to express my frustrations I was limited on time and would have appreciated a call prior to let me know the man at the front raised his voice and basically showed customer service meant nothing to this business...Then they came to me an said my tires were worn and I needed to get new tires..... how convenient....also one tire has a nail in it. i had told them my wheel bolts should be taped to one of the tires and they said ok. I clearly asked if they had found my bag with the bolts and the same man at the front desk said yes he "thought so"....then I got told they didnt find them but the other ones were working from the winter tires so they would use those..... then I get told oh wait they only work for two tires an so we will leave 2 winter tires on an then 2 summer ones and I said no its a 4 wheel drive car you cant drive with different sets of tires...then the man said "we will not be doing this work on our dime"..... long story short all they did was plug a hole in one of the tires and they charged me $125 and basically told me "the customer is wrong" ......WOW....I am more upset about how I was treated then the money... I asked to speak to the manager an he said he was the manager!!! Then when I asked to speak to the owner he told me that was not possible. I cant believe this business has a person like that managing for them as his customer service skills are the worst I have ever witnessed. When I said if I am paying to have my tires changed I will bring the bolts an I expect them to change it for me and he said NO!!!! I wish I had read all the reviews before I went there because those alone would have scared me off. I would never recommend anyone going their unless they are looking to get ripped off an extremely upset for being treated like dirt!
